First results of the Bus.Trainers Project about the lacks of “green” skills of VET trainers in the construction

One of the five priority objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy, the axis about “climate change and energy”, decisively marks a turn in the European Union towards a “green” economy.

In fact, since the original commitments assumed by the members (20% of reduction of greenhouse effect, in relation with the 1990 levels, 20% of renewal energy and an increase on 20% of energy efficient), the goal have changed for 2030 (at least 40% of reduction in greenhouse effect, in relation with 1990 levels, at least 27% of renewal energy and 27% of improvement in energy efficient) This “waybill” guide us to a low-carbon competitive economy for 2050, which considerates more the weather and consumes less energy (80% of reduction of greenhouse effect, in relation with 1990 levels, going to reach a 60% by 2024).

Spain, Italy, Greece, Malta and Portugal spread the Build Up Skills project in the framework of Bus.Trainers, in Lisbon

Agents of the Bus.Trainer partner institutions made an idea-sharing session of the Build Up Skills projects developed in Spain, Italy, Greece, Malta and Portugal, during the second meeting hold in Lisboa together with the Portuguese partners, the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG).

On May 18, more than 60 people went to the event where the Bus.Trainers project was introduced, just like other different initiatives from the south of Europa related to “green” skills, specialized in energy efficient and renewal energies for trainers in the construction sector.

Building green skills for trainers in the construction industry

The European Commission has adjudicated to Fundación Laboral de la Construcción ten new projects to be developed over the next three years. In four of them, the joint entity will participate as coordinator and in the other six, as partner.

The four initiatives led by Fundación Laboral de la Construcción belong to the Erasmus+ programme, entre las que está “Bus.Trainers. Building skills in energy efficiency and renewable energy systems for trainers in the construction industry”, within the framework of Key Action 2 of Cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practices.
